The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Gilmour Academy Lancers at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Saturday, it was close, but Olmsted Falls sidestepped Magnificat for a 7-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
MOLLY SHEEHAN was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MADILYNN SARASUA, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. TAYLOR VAVRO was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Olmsted Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Gilmour Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past North Royalton 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since May 3, 2024.
Camden Dreiling spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Ava Gundling was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Aiden Pike, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Gilmour Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Olmsted Falls, their record is now 11-8.
