Basketball Game Preview: Culver Academies Eagles vs. New Prairie Cougars

The Culver Academies Eagles will take on the New Prairie Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Culver Academies is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Marquette Catholic just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to the Blazers 43-39.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Prairie, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They snuck past Mishawaka with a 39-33 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

New Prairie's win came from a few key players Culver Academies will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nevaeh Trobaugh, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Abbott, who posted three points in addition to ten rebounds and four steals.

Culver Academies' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for New Prairie, their win bumped their record up to 3-19.

Culver Academies came up short against New Prairie in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 51-39. Can Culver Academies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
