Baseball Recap: Central Christian Takes a Loss

If Central Christian was riding high fresh off their 28-1 takedown of East Hill Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Saints lost 11-4 to Trinitas Christian on Thursday. The Saints were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Trinitas Christian earlier this season, when they won 17-0.

Peyton Bond was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Central Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Wil Chandler was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Central Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Trinitas Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
