Baseball Game Preview: Pius X Thunderbolts vs. Norfolk Panthers

The Pius X Thunderbolts will venture away from home to face off against the Norfolk Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Pius X nor Norfolk posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Pius X's last matchup with Waverly could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts came up short against the Vikings, falling 7-0. The Thunderbolts haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Norfolk lost 11-1 to Millard South on Tuesday.

Norfolk saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Synovec, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Norfolk's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Pius X, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Pius X couldn't quite finish off Norfolk in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Thunderbolts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
