Baseball Game Preview: Kewaunee Storm vs. Gibraltar/Washington Island Vikings

The Kewaunee Storm will square off against the Gibraltar/Washington Island Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Kewaunee has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Kewaunee's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Southern Door. The Storm haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Kewaunee's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alec Carlson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Gibraltar/Washington Island strolled into their game last Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Green Bay Southwest.

Kewaunee's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gibraltar/Washington Island, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Kewaunee came out on top in a nail-biter against Gibraltar/Washington Island in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
