Football Recap: Air Academy Comes Up Short

Air Academy and Golden squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Air Academy had to settle for second. They lost to the Demons on the road by a 31-15 margin.

Despite the defeat, Air Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madden Pohl rushed for 111 yards, and also threw for 40 yards and one TD.

Golden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Bonafede, who picked up 141 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 141 receiving yards gave Bonafede a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Colin Meier, who rushed for 79 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Air Academy now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Golden, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Air Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Golden, they will head out on the road to square off against Dakota Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so the Demons' offense will have their work cut out for them.
