Volleyball Recap: Marietta Comes Up Short

After flying high against Etowah on Wednesday, Marietta came back down to earth. The Blue Devils came up short against the Walton Raiders on Thursday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Ryan Sadler paced Marietta's offense, picking up 12 kills. Sadler were helped by Lyla Mackler and Chloe Herrero, who contributed ten assists each. Herrero also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Holland Poor, each putting up two.

Walton was led to victory by Janie Myers and Ella Cobb. Myers had nine digs and two aces, while Cobb had seven digs and one assist. That's the most digs Myers has posted since back in September.

Marietta's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Walton, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 23-6.

Marietta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Campbell on the 14th. As for Walton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Pebblebrook on the 14th.
