Basketball Recap: Dobson Takes a Loss

Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 47-25 to the Red Mountain Mountain Lions. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Mountain Lions are ranked 43rd).

Leading Red Mountain to victory were Payton Westra and Macy Johnson. Westra dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards, while Johnson went 7 of 16 on her way to 16 points. Johnson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Korey Roberts, who posted six points and three steals.

Dobson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Red Mountain, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Dobson will take on Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Red Mountain, they will host Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Red Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season.
