Baseball Recap: Northern Lehigh Wins Going Away Against Catasauqua

Northern Lehigh barely beat Catasauqua the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Rough Riders on Tuesday. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Parker Schaffer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Braedon Dougherty was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Simms, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Northern Lehigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Northern Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Catasauqua, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Looking ahead, Northern Lehigh will venture away from home to face off against Saucon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Catasauqua, they will be playing at home against Moravian Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Rough Riders are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
