Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ketcham walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mamaroneck Tigers on Saturday, sneaking past 7-5. The victory was nothing new for the Storm as they're now sitting on five straight.
Shane Finnigan tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.
On the hitting side, Nick Mondesando was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ensley Perez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Ketcham hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mamaroneck struck out seven times.
Ketcham's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Mamaroneck, their loss dropped their record down to 18-7.
Ketcham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-1 victory against Elmira on the 5th. Mamaroneck does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
