Clear Creek was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Gilpin County Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Golddiggers: when they faced off against the Eagles back in August, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Clear Creek wouldn't go down easily and took Gilpin County into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 15-12.

Kambrey Martin paced Clear Creek's offense, picking up 14 kills. Martin got some help from Shauna Moutray and her 12 assists. Elliot Dunbar controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

When it comes to explaining why Gilpin County lost, don't look at Jennifer Rodriguez-Jimenez. Despite the final result, she had 30 digs.

Clear Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for Gilpin County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Clear Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Dawson School on the 29th. As for Gilpin County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Estes Park on the 30th.
