Baseball Recap: Palatine Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grant Community, Palatine was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Highland Park Giants get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. While the Pirates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Carter Monroe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Palatine is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Highland Park, they moved to 6-2-1 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palatine will square off against Niles North at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Highland Park, they will face off against Fremd at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Giants 3.7, the Vikings 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
