Lecanto had won two straight games and Jt Tipton did his part to make it three on Friday. The Panthers came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 28-23 W against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets thanks in part to Tipton, who threw for 343 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. His passing game has become a key predictor of Lecanto's success: the team is 5-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Lecanto's defense made their presence known, laying out Jacob Kinsy 3.5 times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brekon Howard, Eric Jenkins, and Dante Alexander, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Despite the defeat, Leesburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brennan Henderson forced 14 fumbles and made four total tackles (1.0 for loss). Noah Russell got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 62 yards.

Lecanto's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Leesburg, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Lecanto didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-7 defeat against Madison County on the 30th. As for Leesburg, they have also already played their next game, a 51-13 loss against South Lake on the 31st.
