Basketball Recap: Nick Robinson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Mountain over Maryvale

South Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 52-26 to the Maryvale Panthers. The game marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

South Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nick Robinson, who posted two points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Robinson a new career-high in blocks (two).

Maryvale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from David Jaramillo, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 21 points. Jaramillo's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Devin Murphy, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

South Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Maryvale, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

South Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-56 defeat against Cesar Chavez on the 31st. As for Maryvale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-50 win against Browne on the 30th.
