Softball Recap: Rio Mesa Comes Up Short

Rio Mesa saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westlake Warriors. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rio Mesa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Alvarez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Alvarez a new career-high. Keira Barry was another, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Rio Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Westlake, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Rio Mesa will challenge Saugus at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Westlake, they will face off against Oaks Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Westlake's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
