Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Lutheran Academy Comes Up Short

Holy Cross Lutheran Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Crooms Academy Panthers 55-12. The Crusaders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Akilah Manley was a one-woman wrecking crew for Crooms Academy as she posted 26 points. Avalise Booker was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Holy Cross Lutheran Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Crooms Academy, they moved to 1-5 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross Lutheran Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Orangewood Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Crooms Academy, they and Deltona will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
