Softball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Liberty can now relate to. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Livermore Cowboys on Friday. The Lions have struggled against the Cowboys recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Kate Skinner was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Skinner wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Camryn Jennings, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Livermore, their win bumped their record up to 25-2.

Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Livermore, they will face off against San Ramon Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Cowboys surely won't give up without a fight.
