Basketball Game Preview: Boiling Springs Bulldogs vs. Gaffney Indians

Boiling Springs hasn't had much luck against Gaffney recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Boiling Springs Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gaffney Indians at 6:00 p.m.

Boiling Springs is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against James F. Byrnes on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Boiling Springs was outmatched by James F. Byrnes and fell 72-27. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.

Despite their loss, Boiling Springs saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Makenzie Kinard, who posted 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 48.1% of Boiling Springs' points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Akerah Morris, who had two points and five blocks.

Meanwhile, Gaffney faced Riverside in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Gaffney managed a 53-49 win over Riverside. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Gaffney's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. As for Boiling Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Boiling Springs ended up a good deal behind Gaffney in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 38-23. Can Boiling Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
