Baseball Game Preview: University Trailblazers vs. Liberty Christian Lions

University is 7-1 against Liberty Christian since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Trailblazers will challenge the Lions at 5:30 p.m. Neither University nor Liberty Christian posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

University fell victim to Brownsburg and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Trailblazers haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

University got a good showing from Hunter Canning, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Canning has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, University saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Castetter, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Muncie Burris hit Liberty Christian with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions came up short against the Owls, falling 12-2. The Lions' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Malaki Castor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Liberty Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for University, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

University took their victory against Liberty Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trailblazers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
