Basketball Recap: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. Glenn Bobcats
The R.J. Reynolds Demons won the last time they faced the Glenn Bobcats, and things went their way on Friday too. R.J. Reynolds skirted past the Bobcats 41-39. Given R.J. Reynolds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Bobcats are ranked 517th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
R.J. Reynolds found their leader in underclassman Shyla Simms, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Millie Powers, who scored eight points.
R.J. Reynolds has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Glenn, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. R.J. Reynolds will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glenn, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Mount Tabor is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
