Softball Game Preview: Tunkhannock Tigers vs. Williamsport Millionaires

The Tunkhannock Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Williamsport Millionaires at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Tunkhannock's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Williamsport's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tunkhannock took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mid Valley a 1-0 shutout. The one-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The result came thanks to McKenzie Hannon's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Tunkhannock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erin Van Ness, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Williamsport was able to grind out a solid win over Bald Eagle Area on Saturday, taking the game 7-4.

Tunkhannock pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.9 runs. As for Williamsport, their record now sits at 5-3.

Tunkhannock couldn't quite get it done against Williamsport in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
