Softball Recap: Capuchino Drops Highest Score of Season Against Carlmont

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Capuchino). Everything went their way against the Carlmont Scots on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Lola Sierra made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Capuchino got a massive performance out of Avery Motroni, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Motroni has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Star Gutierrez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Capuchino pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Carlmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Capuchino didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Woodside on the 15th. As for Carlmont, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-12 victory against San Mateo on the 15th.
