Football Recap: Marshall Finds Home Field Redemption Against Tyler Legacy

There's no place like home for Marshall, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took down the Tyler Legacy Raiders 49-33 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mavericks considering their seven-point performance the matchup before.

Alton Henderson had a dynamite game, rushing for 277 yards and five TDs while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also throwing for 102 yards and one touchdown on only nine passes. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. 89 of Henderson's passing yards were hauled in by Jamarion Sparks, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cason Gray, who threw for 192 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 passes. Bam White was another key player, rushing for 75 yards and one score.

Marshall now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Tyler Legacy, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Marshall didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 41-0 win against Palestine on the 19th. As for Tyler Legacy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 38-35 victory against Crowley on the 19th.
