Football Recap: Big Piney Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Greybull + How To Watch

Big Piney faced Greybull in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Punchers fell 20-14 to the Buffaloes. The Punchers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffaloes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Big Piney lost, don't look at Zavier Clifford. Despite the final result, he rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greybull to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Richardsen, who picked up 134 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Those 134 receiving yards gave Richardsen a new career-high. Greybull also got a significant boost from Bennet Sanford, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 126 yards.

Big Piney's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Greybull, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Big Piney will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wyoming Indian at 12:00 p.m. on the 18th. Big Piney will be up against Wyoming Indian's rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Greybull, they will challenge Rocky Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
