Softball Recap: TERRA Environmental Beats Coral Park for Their Third Straight Win

TERRA Environmental waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Coral Park Rams with a sharp 13-3 victory. While TERRA Environmental didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Melissa Hernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Sosa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Lorenzo-Luaces, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

TERRA Environmental was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

TERRA Environmental's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Coral Park, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, TERRA Environmental will square off against Southridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. TERRA Environmental is facing Southridge at the right time seeing as Southridge is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Coral Park, they will face off against Southwest at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
