Softball Game Preview: Hereford Whitefaces vs. Randall Raiders

The Hereford Whitefaces are taking a road trip to challenge the Randall Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Hereford had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Perryton on Friday. Hereford was the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over Perryton. The Whitefaces haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Malarie Enriquez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Angeles Trevi?o was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Lexi Vallejo, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Randall hadn't beaten Pampa on the road since March 8, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Randall blew past Pampa 18-7. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Randall's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Hereford, their record is now 8-12.

Hereford suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Randall in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Hereford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
