Preview: Midland Bulldogs vs. Midland Legacy Rebels
The Midland Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Midland Legacy Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Midland is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Midland was beaten by Permian 61-34. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Midland in their matchups with Permian: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Midland Legacy pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 81-58 defeat at the hands of Frenship. While losing is never fun, Midland Legacy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while Frenship is ranked 23rd).
Despite the loss, Midland Legacy had strong showings from Diego Rodriguez, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Max Vera, who scored ten points along with seven assists.
Midland has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-18 record this season. As for Midland Legacy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-16.
Midland and Midland Legacy were neck-and-neck when the teams last played two weeks ago, but Midland came up empty-handed after a 53-52 defeat. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Midland Legacy's Cutter Clark, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
