Basketball Game Preview: Merced Bears vs. Golden Valley Cougars

The Merced Bears will face off against the Golden Valley Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Merced, who comes in off a win.

Golden Valley will be up against a hot Merced squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Merced took down Atwater 55-37 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Golden Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 60-52 to El Capitan.

Golden Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-6. As for Merced, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Merced didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Golden Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 48-43 win.
