Volleyball Recap: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Woodlan Warriors
Southern Wells lost against Woodlan last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Raiders lost 3-0 to the Warriors. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While Southern Wells had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.
Abbie Powell paced Southern Wells' offense, picking up 19 kills. Powell got some help from Sydney Alstoft and her 23 assists. Powell also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Jailyn Chase, each putting up three.
Leading Woodlan to victory were McKenna Smith and Madison Halsey. Smith had ten digs and one assist, while Halsey had six digs. Smith is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.
Southern Wells now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Woodlan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
Southern Wells will head out on the road to square off against Anderson Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodlan, they will host DeKalb at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
