Basketball Recap: East Moline United Comes Up Short

East Moline United was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 53-22 loss at the hands of the Quincy Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 530th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 95th).

Quincy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jada Brown, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 21 points and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Quincy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameran Byquist, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 15 points and five steals.

East Moline United's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Quincy, their record is now 6-4.

East Moline United will be taking part in a tournament against DeKalb at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Quincy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-53 victory against Hermann on the 20th.
