Softball Recap: Seacrest Country Day Extends Winning Streak to Four

Seacrest Country Day extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 7-6 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Community School of Naples Seahawks. This was a revenge game for the Stingrays: when they faced off against the Seahawks back in March, they had to take a 9-8 loss.

Caroline Porter made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dailin 'D' Delgado, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jolie Booth, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Community School of Naples, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Community School of Naples' side, Reese Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucie Norman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Seacrest Country Day will head out on the road to challenge Lely at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.71 runs per game on average), something the Stingrays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Community School of Naples, they will be playing at home against Golden Gate at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something the Seahawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
