Softball Game Preview: Post Antelopes vs. Floydada Whirlwinds

For the second straight game, Post will face off against Floydada. The Antelopes will square off against the Whirlwinds at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Post has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Post heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Thursday. They lost 12-3 to Floydada. The Antelopes have struggled against the Whirlwinds recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Hannah Abraham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and nine unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Post saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Floydada is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Post, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-14.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Post hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .450. However, it's not like Floydada struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
