Basketball Recap: Butte County Has No Trouble Against Salmon

Butte County won the last time they faced Salmon and things went their way on Friday too. The Butte County Pirates took down the Salmon Savages 63-48.

Salmon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Broc Matthews, who posted nine points in addition to seven assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Matthews a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Pilkerton, who put up 12 points.

Butte County's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Salmon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Butte County will take on Richfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Salmon, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Challis at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Challis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
