Basketball Game Preview: Highline Pirates vs. Lindbergh Eagles

The Highline Pirates and the Lindbergh Eagles will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Highline is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Tyee 73-26 on Thursday. With the Pirates ahead 43-15 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Highline can attribute much of their success to Suhayb Mohamed, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists, and Corey Crosby, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Crosby is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jai'Lyn Chavers, who posted 15 points.

Highline smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Lindbergh can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They strolled past Hazen with points to spare, taking the game 71-52.

The victory got Highline back to even at 3-3. As for Lindbergh, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.

Highline came up short against Lindbergh in their previous meeting back in January, falling 61-49. Can Highline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
