Baseball Recap: Bentworth Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Bentworth, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top against the Frazier Commodores by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Bearcats: when they faced off against the Commodores last Monday, they had to take a 8-1 defeat.

Sam Wade was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bentworth let Ben Hayes and Zeek Malanowsky run wild. Hayes scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Malanowsky scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Hayes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Burt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory got Bentworth back to even at 1-1. As for Frazier, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, Bentworth will take on Waynesburg Central at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Frazier, they will welcome Carmichaels at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
