Basketball Recap: Lake Holcombe Falls Short of Gilman in the Playoffs

Lake Holcombe and Gilman squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Lake Holcombe had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Gilman Pirates 63-19. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Pirates are ranked 222nd).

Gilman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reece Weir, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 10 points along with seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Claire Drier, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 13 points and three steals.

Lake Holcombe has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. Gilman now has a winning record of 13-12.

Lake Holcombe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gilman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-40 win against Washburn on the 28th.
