Softball Recap: West Craven Takes a Loss

West Craven was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-0 to the Ayden - Grifton Chargers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Riley Dixon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. The game marked her first with multiple earned runs this season.

At the plate, West Craven saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelina Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Smith snagged this season.

West Craven's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ayden - Grifton, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ayden - Grifton beat West Craven by a score of 13-3 on Friday.
