Baseball Game Preview: Harker Heights Knights vs. Bryan Vikings

The Harker Heights Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Bryan Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harker Heights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Bryan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bryan will be up against a hot Harker Heights team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Harker Heights was the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Killeen on Tuesday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Harker Heights got a big performance out of Jonatan Mercado, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Mercado continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jordan Wood also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Harker Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Killeen struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, Bryan had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Copperas Cove on Tuesday.

Harker Heights pushed their record up to 10-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7 runs. As for Bryan, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-10-2.
