Volleyball Game Preview: Chamblee Bulldogs vs. Riverwood Raiders

The Chamblee Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Riverwood Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chamblee will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Chamblee earned a 2-0 win over McNair.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Chamblee was: they took both sets by at least 15 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-10.

Chamblee can attribute much of their success to Kaitlin Yarberry, who had eight aces. Those eight aces gave Yarberry a new career-high.

Yarberry wasn't the only good servers: Chamblee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 31 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Riverwood lost 3-0 to River Ridge on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Riverwood took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-13, 25-20.

Riverwood's loss dropped their record down to 17-15. As for Chamblee, they now have a winning record of 17-16.

Chamblee came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverwood when the teams last played back in August, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
