The Smith Academy Fighting 54th will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Fort Wayne HomeSchool Hawks at 7:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Smith Academy: they have been struggling with ten straight losses at home, while Fort Wayne HomeSchool has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Smith Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 70-22 loss at the hands of Trinity. Smith Academy has struggled against Trinity recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
After soaring to a 22-point win in their last game, Fort Wayne HomeSchool came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of Northside L by a score of 71-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sam Newcomer, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah King, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Fort Wayne HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Smith Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Fort Wayne HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 21-3.
