Baseball Recap: Sharon Wins Going Away Against Franklin

Sharon won the last time they faced Franklin and things went their way on Monday too. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ethan Engelmore looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Derek Douglas was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carmine Thomas, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-2.

Sharon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only posted an OBP of .263.

Sharon's record now sits at 4-1. As for Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Sharon will take on Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Franklin, they will host Rocky Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
