Basketball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Tolman Tigers

The Woonsocket Villa Novans will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Tolman Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woonsocket will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Monday, Woonsocket came up short against Middletown and fell 62-52.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Isaiah Guertin, who posted seven points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ayvion Foux, who had five points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Woonsocket smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Tolman didn't have quite enough to beat Rogers on Monday and fell 37-34. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Woonsocket's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Tolman, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Woonsocket took a serious blow against Tolman in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 85-41. Can Woonsocket avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
