Basketball Recap: Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy Lions vs. Lake County Panthers
Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Lake County Panthers by a score of 59-56 on Monday.
Despite the loss, Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy still got an impressive performance from Jackson Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Dominic Doss was another key player, going 6 for 12 en route to 15 points plus six rebounds and two steals.
Isaiah Martinez had an outrageously good game for Lake County as he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Martinez has been hot , having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Ayers, who earned 14 points plus five rebounds and three steals.
Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-47 loss against Skyview on the 5th. As for Lake County, they will venture away from home to face off against Alamosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
