Baseball Recap: Snowflake Takes a Loss

After soaring to 16 runs the game before, Snowflake was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They came up short against the Valley Christian Trojans, falling 15-2. If the Lobos were looking for revenge after losing 7-6 to the Trojans when the teams met back in May of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Skip Bawden was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bawden was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Snowflake is 9-2 when Bawden posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

Snowflake has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Valley Christian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Snowflake will square off against Show Low at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valley Christian, they will challenge Coolidge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
