With a playoff win on the line, Staley rose to the challenge on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lee's Summit Tigers a 3-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Not much got past Brody Irlbeck, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Lee's Summit off the board. Irlbeck has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Abbott, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Andrew Maultsby was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Staley's win bumped their record up to 34-3. As for Lee's Summit, they moved to 30-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Staley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
