Baseball Game Preview: Aitkin Gobblers vs. Mora Mustangs

The Aitkin Gobblers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Mora Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Aitkin is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Rush City. The Gobblers blew past the Tigers 15-7 on Tuesday. The Gobblers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jake McGuire made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McGuire was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Pelarski, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-6. Another player making a difference was Jack Jacobson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mora ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Moose Lake/Willow River 3-2.
