Softball Game Preview: Rock Hill Redmen vs. Fairland Dragons

Rock Hill and Fairland are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Redmen will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Rock Hill and seven for Fairland.

Rock Hill fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against South Point on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pointers. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Khloe Kline spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bridgette Stapleton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Sami Bamer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Dawson-Bryant hit Fairland with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons came up short against the Hornets, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Dragons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Fairland's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Rock Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
