Softball Recap: Springboro Starts off Right with Win over Chaminade Julienne Catholic

Springboro gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chaminade Julienne Catholic Eagles a 25-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bella Breen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Breen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Katie Jonas looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, Kylene Seibel was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, seven RBI, and one triple. Bella Miller was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and five RBI.

Chaminade Julienne Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Springboro will venture away from home to face off against Bishop Fenwick at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaminade Julienne Catholic will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Troy at 1:00 p.m. on March 22nd.
