Baseball Game Preview: Orchard Park Quakers vs. Lancaster Legends

For the second straight game, Orchard Park will face off against Lancaster. The Quakers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Legends at 5:30 p.m. Orchard Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Orchard Park came out on top against Lancaster on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Quakers walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Legends. The win continues a trend for the Quakers in their matchups with the Legends: they've now won six in a row.

Connor Valiquette made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Valiquette was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Nalawadi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Will Newlove was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Orchard Park pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Orchard Park's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Quakers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game.
