Soccer Recap: Jersey Takes a Loss

There was early excitement for Jersey after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Alton who ended up claiming the real prize. The Panthers fell just short of the Redbirds by a score of 3-2. Jersey have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ella Smith and Annie Hansen scored both of Jersey's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Jersey's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for Alton, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.

Jersey and Alton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Panthers will square off against Triad at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (279 vs. 20). Meanwhile, Alton (ranked 274th) will meet O'Fallon (ranked first) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
